Honestly the number one question that I am asked [at least 5+ times a week] is where to get brunch in Austin, TX.  While there are endless options, it isn’t always clear who has the best deals on mimosas and a flawless migas scramble.  This week, I am rounding up my current favorite brunch options including some hot, new options and some older classics worth a revisit.

Banger’s Sausage & Beer Garden

Banger’s is deserving of the brunch spotlight due to their prime location on bustling Rainey Street.  They are also one of the few (maybe only) places in town where you can order one drink with an entire bottle of champagne–  i.e. the Manmosa.  The beer garden recently completed its multiyear expansion project with a new three-story, 15,000 square foot building to accommodate more guests than ever before.  Big Band Brunch on Sunday is a can’t miss.

When: Sunday 10am-4pm

40 North

This popular pizza outpost now serves brunch from 11am-3pm on weekends.  The menu includes ricotta pancakes, crispy potatoes served with eggs and labneh, and pizza dough beignets.  Bottles of bubbles are half-priced during brunch, and a single mimosa will only run you $4.

When: Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm

The Brewer’s Table

Similar to lunch and dinner, you will find beer grains incorporated into many of the brunch specials at Brewer’s Table.  Pear and pumpkin soup + banana pancakes were both big hits with our group.  A mimosa carafe will run you $20 and a single mimosa is priced at $6.

When: Saturday and Sunday 11:00am-2:30pm

June’s All Day

This South Congress neighborhood cafe has been a favorite of mine, since opening in 2017.  The brunch menu includes sourdough pancakes, a breakfast chalupa, and steak and parmesan fried eggs to name a few.  I really love June’s for brunch, because of their endless selection of fine wines, champagne and rose.  Start with June’s signature rose for something approachable, or order a bottle for the table ranging anywhere from $72 to $550 dependent on how fine your taste.

When: Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-3:00pm

Snooze

If your brunch fantasy includes pancakes in every flavor imaginable, then Snooze it is.  Snooze is a casual, AM eatery specializing in breakfast classics, with a variety of eggs benedict options and everything from breakfast tacos to burritos.  The brunch cocktail list is vast and reasonably affordable.

When: 6:30am-2:30pm daily

La Matta

New Waterloo concept, La Matta, just announced that they will be serving breakfast paninis, coffee and espresso on weekends from 8am-4pm as a part of a new weekend brunch offering.

When:  Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm

Mattie’s

Those who have been in Austin a while will know this spot as the original home of Green Pastures.  Since reopening as Mattie’s in 2017, the restaurant has focused on bringing southern comfort food to life in their historic estate.  The environment here is magical, and you won’t even feel like you’re in the heart of downtown Austin.  Brunch amongst the estate’s peacock friends, and enjoy the scenic views.

When: Saturday and Sunday 11am-2pm

Emmer & Rye

Emmer & Rye is my favorite restaurant in all of Austin, so it should be no surprise to see them listed here as one of the best brunch spots.  The brunch menu sourdough bagels, buckwheat crepes and wagyu shortrib with $6 mimosas and $10 bloody marys.  This brunch is also located on Rainey Street– prime location for hitting a show at Icenhauers afterwards.

When:  Sunday 11am-2pm

Suerte

After an extremely successful opening, and the launch of their dinner and happy hour menus — Suerte shifted their focus to launching brunch.  The brunch menu is comprised of Mexican staples ranging from migas to mole flautas to pork y huevo (red chile chashew braised pork and poached eggs).  Sparkling wine starts at $9 a glass, if you’re looking to pair with mimosas.

When:  Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am-2:30pm

Better Half Coffee & Cocktails

The ambiance in this place simply put, is spot-on.  Yes, I will take a side of coffee with my booze.  From chicken biscuit sandwiches to sweet potato pancakes, you will find plenty of options.  Carafes of mimosas are $28, and a single mimosa runs $7.

When:  Saturday and Sundays from 8am-3pm

Tiny Boxwood’s Cafe

If you are looking for a fancier brunch destination, head to the charming Rosedale neighborhood.  Tiny Boxwood’s opened its first Austin location in 2016, after opening the two original locations in Houston.   The family that owns Tiny Boxwoods has actually lived in Austin for years, so opening this location was dear to their hearts.  Tiny Boxwoods serves avocado toast, house migas, french toast, a Santa Barbara bowl with strawberries, blueberries, bananas and granola.  Grab a cookie on your way out the door, they are baked fresh daily and some of the best in town.

When:  Saturdays from 8am-3pm and Sundays from 9am-2pm

Cisco’s Restaurant and Bakery

This divey spot in East Austin was recently revamped by new ownership, but the decor and food remain the same.  Cisco’s has the best flakey biscuits you’ve ever had… and they are amazing paired with the migas dish.  They recently got their liquor license and added more alcohol options to the menu, so be prepared for a boozy brunch.  Mimosas start at only $4, with Bloody Mary’s and Screwdrivers priced at $6.

When:  Saturdays and Sunday 7am-10pm
