If you’ve been following the news, the Texas Senate just approved a statewide bill allowing pets in restaurants in outdoor areas.  The bill follows Austin’s lead on a bill passed as early as 2006, also allowing dogs to dine with owners on outdoor patios. There are now 500+ places you can eat with your dog in Austin alone.  Here are some of the best ones. Hint: some even leave out treats and water bowls. 🙂

And [of course] a cute pic of my new puppy, Remington Waffles. He’s an eight-week-old Golden Retriever!

Emmer & Rye:  The patio at Emmer & Rye just opened back up for brunch service, and is super dog-friendly.  They are also offering a new seasonal brunch menu that feature Carribean food for the next three months!

June’s All Day:  You’ll regularly find dogs hanging out on this patio on South Congress.  The space is named for June Rodil, who has been known to bring her own dog in regularly.

Launderette:  A former east side laundromat is now a diner serving new American fare by Chef Rene Ortiz.  They have a patio, and welcome your furry friends on a leash.

The Brewer’s Table:  New to the east side, The Brewer’s Table has a large outdoor space with a lager garden for enjoying their house made beers.  Come for happy hour, dinner or brunch!

Uncle Nicky’s:  This was the first restaurant we took our pup, upon bringing him home last week.  They rank high on this list, because the staff warmly welcomed our puppy and brought over a water bowl.  We also noticed several other pet owners seated on the patio that day.

Perla’s:  Perla’s has been a long-time favorite of pups everywhere.  Their expansive patio hosts furry friends regularly, and is the perfect spots to enjoy oysters & cocktails in the Spring.

Shore Raw Bar & Grill:  Show Raw Bar is brand new, and located out in the Oak Hill area.  They serve seafood with regional influences from Louisiana to Mexico.  Your pup will have his own water bowl, and plenty of space to roam.

Banger’s:  Treat your pup to a dog-friendly sausage at Banger’s and yourself to a Manmosa.  This place is the perfect place to dine with your pet, and they even have a fenced in dog park on their super spacious patio!

Fresa’s:  The Fresa’s on South First is the perfect place to bring your dog.  The colorful patio has plenty of seating, and the queso, bowls and tacos will not disappoint.

Bouldin Creek Cafe:  Another South First gem with a patio.  Bouldin Creek is an Austin classic, and one of the longer running restaurant operations.  We love their grilled cheese and vegetarian options soo much!

Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches:  This spot opened up on Manor Rd in 2017, and serves some of the best kolaches in town.  Their beer selection is quite impressive, as well. Your pup can sunbathe on their patio while you cheers with friends.

Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill:  Take your pup to the historic Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill located in downtown Austin on Red River Street.  The restaurant serves Southern Comfort food and is a favorite of locals and tourists alike.

Radio Coffee Bar:  My personal favorite coffee shop to work from also allows you to bring your dog.  There’s plenty of space to spread out, and they have Veracruz All Natural tacos in the back.

Yard Bar:  Yard Bar is dedicated to catering to your canine [hence the name] with a fenced in dog park, and a menu full of snacks & sandwiches for their humans.  Find them on Burnet Rd.

Second Bar + Kitchen:  Located on second street in Downtown Austin, Second Bar + Kitchen allows pets on their downstairs patio, which is great for people watching.  Order a pizza with wine, or come in for brunch and mimosas.

Shake Shack:  One of the friendliest option for dogs offering special dog custard and biscuits for your pets, as well as designated patio parking for your pup at both locations.

G’raj Mahal:  Similar to other spots on Rainey Street, G’raj Mahal is also dog friendly.  They offer some of my favorite Indian food in town.

Casa de Luz:  Embrace your inner Vegan, and take your dog to Casa de Luz.  You’ll feel healthier and your pup will feel very welcome.

Cosmic Coffee & Beer Garden:  This spot is a playground for adults and puppies alike.  The space offers an outdoor garden with food trucks [Leroy and Lewis, Tommy Want Wingy], plenty of seating, ponds, campfires and more!  You can enjoy coffee, beer or both!

Hops N Grain Brewing:  This spot hosts regular Yappy Hours on their patio.  Treat yourself to a craft brew and your pup to a grain-based biscuit!

Mozarts Coffee Roasters:  You and your pup will enjoy the lakeside views on the huge patio space at Mozarts.  You’ll find hand-crafted coffee and baked goods to munch on too.
